Bedtime Routine

There is one thing that I thought for sure came with the momma role.

Rocking your baby to sleep.

That must be the best way to get babies to sleep. Who doesn't love a cuddle, books and songs before bed? Not my baby Bee even though I have definitely tried to make that our bedtime routine. He loves songs and books during the day so at least I have that. However for bedtime and naps he prefers to just be laid down in his crib. He kinda whimpers a bit because he wants to know what's going on in the big wide world of our house but then he falls asleep in less than 5 minutes.

Why have I been complicating bedtime for so long?

Bee's Valentine Pics

The "itch"

I absolutely love being a business owner. Choosing the products that I believe in, working with families or corporations that i choose and working how/when I want. I love having the power to give myself a raise when I want or need it. Being an entrepreneur was the best choice for our growing family.

I've got the "itch", as seen in this clip

Do you have the itch?

Valentines 2013

In my mind this note happened.

Dear mum,

You are the best mum in the world! I love you very much. Thank you for everything that you do for me and for running on no sleep. Your awesome!

Love Bee
Ps. I am too little to go and get you a gift so please accept all I have to give.

Following this "note" Bee gave me all he had and peed on me. What a thoughtful son I have. It isn't everyone that would think of sharing. I know it's not a tradition gift but he's a giver.

This last bit was not in my head.....

As for Jason and this is what went down. Last week we had a very romantic dinner. We ordered pizza in and ate it in our living room!!! That was what we agreed to.

Before our agreement I already bought him a present online so I thought I would just keep it for the next present occasion.

Valentines came and I wanted to give him something despite our agreement but it hasn't arrived yet so I had to get creative while he was at work and had our car.

I made chocolates!!

.... and less impressive dinner

We didn't have any sparkling apple juice so we just used XS. It looks pretty close.

Jason kept asking me if the package came yet and I thought he was referring to the order I placed. Wrongo bongo. Turns out he bought me flowers for the first time!! Whoop whoop. They came at 930pm practically missed valentines day. They sure are beautiful he even picked out the arrangement himself.

The Presidents Ball was on February 15. We had my sister babysit Bee for us. Her and I had a makeover date before the dance. We got our hair cut, did our makeup and styled our hair. She is 12, almost a teen so I've got to share my knowledge with her before its too late. We looked awesome! Ready for our valentines. She got the handsome baby while I had my sexy husband.

She did wonderful job babysitting, she even got him to go to sleep in his crib!! She is a fabulous auntie!!

I Lived in Heaven

Recently I have taken up piano again. I am determined to learn the children's song book and the hymn book.

I am starting at the beginning and learning them one by one. Well.... That's the plan. I got bored just playing one song so I am now working on four at a time. Two from the children's songbook and two from the hymn book. I will only move onto the next song once I can play with both hands. This is going to take a while but once I get back into practising I'm sure I will learn them much better.

I am currently working on the song "I Lived in Heaven." The words go as follows

1. I lived in heaven a long time ago, it is true; Lived there and loved there with people I know. So did you. Then Heavenly Father presented a beautiful plan, All about earth and eternal salvation for man.

2. Father said he needed someone who had enough love To give his life so we all could return there above. There was another who sought for the honour divine.Jesus said, “Father, send me, and the glory be thine.”

3. Jesus was chosen, and as the Messiah he came, Conquering evil and death through his glorious name, Giving us hope of a wonderful life yet to be— Home in that heaven where Father is waiting for me. (Children’s Songbook of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4. I Lived in Heaven)

I have know this song for most of my life. Recently I have been thinking more and more about the saviour and everything he has done for me. I don't always make the right choices but I know that he always has my back.

Sometimes I wish that we didn't have to face struggles and trials but that the puzzle pieces of life would fit just right. I know that can't be the way it is. We must learn from our mistakes. The hardest part for me is watching those I love struggle with challenges that I can't just take away or even help them overcome.

I am very grateful for Christ picking me up instead of stopping me from making needed mistakes. Now if only I could be more like him. I guess I just have to be patient and be there for my loved ones when they are ready or just need a hug.

Bee's blessing day

Oh what a day. It really was exciting to finally have him blessed.

Being a member of the church of Latter Day Saints we bless our babies. We do this for a couple of reasons. One being to give them a name, one that will be on church records and that they will take with them. They also receive a special blessing to help them with their life. My feelings on Sunday were that his blessing was for our family. We are new to the whole parenting thing and sometimes I get discouraged... What if I mess up? Will I teach him what he needs to know so he will be the man he is meant to become? His blessing shared what some of his strengths are. I know that I am far from perfect but I know more now in regards to want I/we can help him with.

Church was wonderful. We had a lot of support from family and friends. We almost took up the whole middle section of pews. There was 48 people. We are loved, most definitely. It also helps that both Jason and I have large families.

Cousins!! They are less than a month apart.
After church we went to our place for dinner. Beef on a bun and it was delicious! I made a lot more than we needed as only half the people I thought were coming over came. Good thing is that it is a meal that freezes well. We were able to give some to friends and even the missionaries.

It turned out so great I will even give you the recipe. Let me know if you give it a try. I would love to hear your stories.

Pulled Beef (4-5 pd roast)
1 1/2 cup Ketchup
1 pkg onion soup mix
1 tbsp chili powder
3 tbsp vinegar
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp dry mustard or 6 tsp mustard
1 tsp garlic

Mix together, it will be a thick mixture. Pour mixture on top of the roast until completely covered.

Cook at 250 - 275 for 2 - 4 hours.
Pulled: Cook longer. Pull meat apart then saturate in mix for another hour.
Sliced: Cook shorter. Slice then saturate in mix for another hour.

Crock pot: I just put in on low overnight. Perfect for pulling but if you want sliced that is too long it just falls apart.

We also got some pictures done by one of our friends. She did a wonderful job! I love how they turned out.

9 - 5!!!

Best night ever!!! Bee slept through the night! Whoop whoop!
I am super excited about this. I am a woman that needs sleep. I once heard that moms don't need sleep. It's a myth, we need it!! It may appear that we don't because someone has to keep going and going. I would prefer to leave that job to the energizer bunny.

We put bee to bed around 8:00. Lots of people put their babies to bed later. Do what works for you. For me I need sometime before I am exhausted to be me. Spend time with my husband. Have a massive bowl of ice cream. If my tub wasn't ridiculously shallow I would have a nice long soak.

We had to work a bit yesterday to get him to fall asleep in his crib. He doesn't really like it but its getting better. Just pushing through.

5:30 is a bit early for me to want to be up . As you probably guessed I love sleep!! Bee is 8 weeks tomorrow and for his whole life I have been fighting getting up early but it's not easy trying to sleep more when he is awake and wants attention. I have gotten pretty good at being half asleep on the floor beside him and squeezing a toy to keep his attention.

Today I decided to take a different approach. Once he was done eating, I played with him then I actually did some exercise!! Oh yeah! Today was a victory day and that's all before 7:30am. Now to shower, get dressed, laundry, etc. If we're lucky I might get something's done around the house before Bee's blessing on Sunday.
