The choices you make, makes you

A couple weeks ago we made a business trip up to Edmonton. I love travelling for our company. Often when we tell people we are going on a business trip they apologize and complain about bosses. We don't have to go, we choose to go. That makes all the difference. I love the opportunity to learn more and meet successful people.

Being an entrepreneur is so empowering and it allows me to do things when I am able. I make it a priority so that we will have opportunities that we wouldn't have any other way. I also love that I can assist with providing for our family when I am home with Bee.

In January Bill Britt passed away. he was a wonderful man who impacted thousands of people. I wish I could have personally met him but because of technology I was able to still learn from him.

We were able to attend a product fair and learn about more products.

My favorite new program is Bodykey. It is a weight management program that focuses on nutrition and fitness. I love it because its not just something you eat that changes how you look. Bodykey focuses on changing your lifestyle so you keep the results you achieve.

Bodykey has a website that keeps track of your progress, offers tips and recipes. There is also an app "fit bit" to keep track. That will be very helpful since I normally have my phone on me. There is an optional tracker that you wear. It tracks steps, calories, sleep cycle, etc. I'm so excited for this even though I know I don't sleep enough.

I am excited to get back down to my prebaby weight. Only 15 pounds to go but I want to focus more on how I feel not a number. I will keep you posted in how everything goes. I start in march wish me luck!!

Ohh also there is a competition. You need a team of 5 and there is a trip involved. If your interested I would love some team members!!

If Life Was A Game Show

Life really would be more fun if it was a game show.

Why you say? Here's why....

Prizes
You did the dishes! = win a prize
You got dressed in real clothes (no yoga pants) = a round of applause
Make up too = standing ovation
You remembered to shovel the walk = move forward 3 spaces
You cleaned the whole house and helped a friend in need with one hand while balancing a child on your hip = you win a vacation to Australia
You lost 20 pounds = you win a new wardrobe
You had your third child = you win a new minivan and advance to a larger home
You got everyone to school on time, fully dressed and fed = please advance to sit on the couch (go) and collect $200

Excitement
Grocery shopping normally mundane but done at the speed of the price is right. It would be exhilarating

Comedy
Sometimes I wish we had rewind capabilities. I would have a fabulous gag reel.

Choices
Don't know what to do? Spin this giant wheel to discover what happens next

Oh the possibilities!!

However I can make my life seem like a game show I do it!!

My favorite new addition is with Bee. Catch phrase: Show me the bubbles!! He doesn't like to burp. He would rather hold it in. Best part is I've been doing this for weeks and sometimes he listens. Perhaps I am training him to burp on command. Not sure if that's a good thing yet but bubbles are sure coming a lot better.

I must have been preparing to be a Mom

Today was the first day of my postnatal classes. We didn't really discuss very much, mostly everyone shared their story, struggles and successes. It was good to hear about some of the differences and get some tips as well.

Some of the new moms are completely overwhelmed which is understandable. Being a mom is tough stuff. One thing that surprised me a ton was the instructor said that professionally and personally she doesn't believe women are being raised to know what to do or prepared for roles of motherhood. No wonder our society is having so many struggles.

I never thought that I would be so grateful for the many opportunities I have had in my life to be around children. I have 4 siblings, all of them are younger than me. I have many cousins that I have been around my entire life. I also did a lot of babysitting in my youth. Mostly just when for a couple of hours but one family I babysat all day long for weeks. What a great opportunity. I learned how to sooth a baby, burp a baby, multitask, let a baby cry for a minute when needed.

All of those things seem small and not a big deal but my eyes were opened. How lucky am I that I can enjoy being a mom without worrying about learning everything to know about babies.

I am also grateful that I know I'm not perfect and don't feel the need to be perfect. Sure I would love to be super mom but the truth is right now I can't be. Somedays the dishes and laundry aren't done. So what? Bee is happy and I'm not stressed. No point in stretching myself so thin that I let myself become overwhelmed.

Silly Mom

Life is Wonderful!!

I absolutely love being a mom. I have the greatest baby in the world. He is generally really happy, unless he needs something. Last week was the best week ever. He spoiled me rotten. Yes he is only six weeks old. How is that even possible?!? Well....he only woke up once during the night for a whole week. I love sleep, it totally made everything else seem extra great. It helped me get some house work done too. I love when the laundry and dishes are both done at the same time. Normally its one or the other. Lol.

Bee is a morning person I think. This week he has woken up at 6:30 every morning and been bright eyed and ready to go. In the mornings I bring him into our bed for scriptures and prayer before Jason leaves for work. Then he ends up being my snuggle buddy. He makes this funny sound that is almost like a cry so I wake up and for days I thought he was hungry. Man was I wrong. He just wanted some attention. Obviously 6:30 is playtime. How did I not know that. Silly mom. He will wiggle, smile and giggle for almost an hour. It is fabulous!

I love that he is starting to interact more and more. We have conversations all day long. He is quite content to coo at me all day long. He has even become a bit of a dancer. His favorite so far is classic 80's rock. Also my favorite. When I put music on he shakes his arms all over the place and kicks those legs. The other day I put him on a blanket on the floor; he was so excited that he kicked (pushed) himself a good solid two feet. He is not old enough to be doing that..... I hope he slows down a bit. Just for me. I am a selfish and want him to stay little for longer. I love his cuddles too much.

One month

Bee is already one month old!! I can't believe it. The time has really flown but at the same time I feel like I've been a mom forever.

I am definitely learning lots about being a mom and also learning how bee is specifically. I knew babies cried differently but was never able to interpret them before. Now for the most part I know what he wants. I love that. It's nice not always having to guess what he needs.

I have also learned that IF I have a shower and get dressed for the day (not sweat pants) THEN I will get puked on. Funny thing but it is tried and true.

I made some adorable monthly onesies that I found online. You can find the templates halfway down the page at http://brittanyleighpotter.blogspot.ca/?view=classic&m=1
They were super easy to make all I needed was onesies, transfer paper, printer and an iron.

Here is the first month.

Life of a Hobbit Mom

This post really isn't about hobbits. I am quite tiny but not that small nor are my feet hairy. I feel like a hobbit because the schedule Bee is on.

We've got breakfast (6am), second breakfast (9:30am), elevenses (11), luncheon (1:00pm), afternoon tea (3pm), dinner (6pm), supper (8:00pm) and the addition of midnight snacks (1:30am and 3:00am on good days).

I swear I am just feeding him all day. By the time he eats, he burps and I get him to fall asleep we are only half an hour from the next time he's hungry.

He must be growing. He is getting quite long. None of those adorable baby rolls yet but they must be around the corner with all the eating he has been doing.
