I have been a better mom these last couple weeks. I have been focusing on my diet,, making sure that I have my snacks while also trying to get the right proportions of carbohydrates, fats and protein. Being full helps especially during the morning when Bee is ready to get up and going.
This used to be our schedule: Bee wakes up. Feed him and attempt to keep him in bed as long as possible. Get out of bed and slink over to the living room to play with Bee. To be honest I would hold onto a toy and dangle it in front of him while propping my arm up with my other arm. I would fall asleep next to him, somehow still managing to shake his toy. Feed Bee. Lunch. for me ..sometime. If I remembered. That was a big if. You get the picture. He is a wonderful baby but I was just exhausted and my habits weren't helping me get back onto the right track. Not everyday was like this but often.
I have refocused on my personal health while remaining flexible to accommodate Bee's needs. Now I can feed him, feed me and play without falling asleep dangling a toy in front of his face. When I am more active it seems the rest of the day goes better. I am able to stimulate him so that when nap time comes he is actually tied and doesn't fight me as much. I use his nap time to do my 10 minute 4321 Exercise by Sean Foy, and other household duties. This week I have not only done all my laundry but it is folded and put away. Small task but big accomplishment. The afternoon goes about the same as the morning. I have my snacks for the week prepped and in bags already with the proper proportions so I can grab them quick. I also do a 10 minute exercise during the afternoon nap. I love that the exercises are only 10 minutes because I have 10 minutes to spare throughout the day. Do I have to exercises more than once a day no but it has made a difference in my able to keep going.
Some days when Jason got home from work I would be collapsed on the couch or trying to get Bee to sleep. He is wonderful and would give em a break and let me get some rest. I thought it was needed. These last couple days when he gets home we do another 10 minute exercise together. I have enjoyed this more than I thought. He is in better shape than me currently so he keeps me motivated to push a little bit more. Yesterday we did an exercise that used weights. I have a set of 3 pound weights (I know I'm so tough) but I didnt have any bigger ones for Jason. He improvised with our kitchen chairs. I suppose the lesson in this story is to use what you have around the house.
I have not needed a nap this week. I have thought about it but mostly out of habit. I feel like I have a bit of my life back in control. I am not a slave to sleep. I am loving the feeling of empowerment.
Here is the bundle that I bought that helps keep me on track. You can get it Here if you are interested in taking control of your health and reaching your goals. This bundle is available for a special offer of $75 off.
The Fit Bit is a tool that I have been using to track my steps, calories burned and sleep patterns. It works hand in hand with recording my meals. I know how many calories I need to burn to keep up with the input and where I am in achieving my daily goals.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to send me an email or leave a comment.
I can't wait to see what changes this next week brings!
