Green Week

For green week we had an extra great sensory bin. Lots of different textures to play with.

Bee also fell in love with peek a bo this week. He hid behind just about anything and everything!

For bath time we played with some green ice cubes. He absolutely loved scooting around and finding the cubes. I thought they might be too chilly for him but he loved holding them in his hand. He loved the cold on his teeth too. The funniest was when he was holding them, they would melt, which left him very confused. He looked everywhere for those cubes when they melted.

He got this new chair and loved reading his books in there. Here he is with his favorite book, Five Little Ducks.

In his sensory bin we put a lizard. I wrapped the lizards tail around his hear. He loved it and kept trying to put it back on when it fell off.

I can be such a pest, good thing he loves me!

Yellow Week

Oh what a week!

Our sensory bin filled with all sorts of goods.

Bee loved looking at everything in the bin, taking them out, putting them back in or stacking them. He absolutely loves putting things away. He always has but this week he has taken this to a whole new level.

For our literacy activity/hand on activity I had planned on colouring the word yellow with different shades of yellow. I always give Bee three colors to choose from. Well this week that was not enough. He wanted the whole box and not for colouring. He took all the crayons out and just started putting them back into the container. He did this over and over again for over an hour. I couldn't believe it. This was definitely an activity that caught his attention.

I will be planning more activities that require him to put objects into another.

I love that I can see Bees interests develop as he explores.

He still loves to play with our clip art. He can flip them over really well. He now recognizes that the color needs to be face up. When I flip them upside down he quickly flips to the color side. He also loved taking them off the table, putting them in between his legs and then putting them back onto the table. His version of hide and seek.

Books were huge this week. He read all the books on his shelf. He took them off one by one, read them then moved onto the next. What a mess! Luckily he loves putting things back so with a little help the job was done rather quickly.

Next week is green!

Can't wait to see how the activities I plan develop and change with Bees input. I love watching him learn and develop. He continues to amaze me.

Sister B

Lindsay, one of my bestest of friends, left on her mission the other week. She is off to Armenia, Georgia where she will be speaking Georgian. It looks so difficult but I am sure she will pick it up quickly. She is such a great learner and with the power of the Holy Ghost I'm sure she will be unstoppable.

Here we are, at the Cardston Alberta temple.

The same night but with our other sister, Mysha. We are so blest to be such great friends. For years we have lived so far away but when we are together it seems that no time has past. I have heard that once you are friends for 10 years you are friends for life. Forever friends, sisters.

Friends gathered at Lindsay's farewell dinner.

Karsten with his Auntie Lindsay!

18 months is a long time but I know that she is needed to help others. People are waiting for her and her pure testimony. She is an excellent example of faith and overcoming challenges. She has made me a better person and I'm sure she will influence others aswell. I am so proud of her and count myself blest to be a part of her journey.

Master Bedroom

Here is our bedroom. Pretty plain and boring. The walls were some sort of dusty peach. Ick!

The ceilings were so well done. I hate popcorn ceilings but that's not the worst part.

The worst part was that they didn't even paint the ceiling before they pop-corned it so the ceiling had awful lines.

Our beautiful ceiling once we primed, painted and added our new fancy light.

Here is the old and new color change. I wanted our room to be an escape, a warm escape. That's why we went with the warm tones.

To add a bit of fancy we got creative and made a feature wall behind our bed.

I printed off a shape and traced it onto cardboard. To get the shape big enough I opened the image in paint and used the option to print it 2:2. Similar to printing a tiled version, just depends on the programs that you have.

To ensure our pattern stayed even we taped a level onto our stencil before beginning.

Here is our pattern traced onto the wall.

All we did was paint over top of the lines that we traced with a fine tipped paint brush.

Gorgeous!!! I absolutely love how this wall looks.
Here is the wall completed.

I got the stencil from this blog. Check it out if you are interested in giving it a try yourself! http://www.whiletheysnooze.blogspot.ca/2012/07/diy-moroccan-style-wall-stencil.html?m=1
