Five years ago my best friends and I got together and made a time capsule. This year was the year that we opened it!! Soooo exciting.

We had a get together barbecue with a
bunch of friends. I love getting together with people and am so lucky
that the majority of my high school friends still get together. Friends are such a blessing. I will forever cherish the memories we made and making new ones when we can. We have all grown and changed but I still love them to bits.
We buried it in THE perfect spot. Maybe too perfect because it took us forever to find it.... When we buried it we put it directly in the middle of two trees. The problem was that one of the trees is no longer. We ended up digging up quite a bit of yard. Good thing we took a picture five years ago. I brought it so we could put it in the new time capsule. We ended up using it as a type of map, a frame of reference. The trees have grown since then but surprisingly this worked. We were about to go find a metal detector.

Here is our before and after shot. Unfortunately Miranda couldn't be with us so Mysha tried to fill in the void.
Here are our buried treasures
Five years ago we wrote letters to each other. Predictions on who we would become, what we would accomplish, where we would be, etc. Some also wrote memories, things that made us such great friends, what we love about each other. I loved reading the letters that I received. I have amazing friends. The funny thing is some of them wrote things that I needed to read/learn about myself. These wonderful people still manage to take me to where I need to be.
The most powerful letter that I read was one that I had written to Lindsay. She is someone that I have and will always have a deep respect for. In the letter that I wrote to her I shared a quoted from my Grandmother. In 2008 my Grandmother (Great Grandma) passed away.We had a very close relationship and often thinking about her still hurts, I miss her. As I read that letter I remembered her words and everything that she means to me. I was completely overcome. I'm sure everyone thought I was crazy but we have been friends for over 10 years so they know I'm crazy.I needed to have my Grandmothers words remind me of what is important and to be a little better. Stand a little taller, love a little more, learn more, appreciate life and so many others concepts. She was and is a great example to me and I needed to be reminded it was okay to remember the lessons she taught me. It's okay to miss her.
We put quite a few items in. Some acted as reminders of who we were, what we did and some related to the year we buried the capsule.
