Wednesday nights I spend my time with a youth group that is organized as a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Today we went to the movies! We saw Meet the Mormons. It was a wonderful film. It was really nice to see how simple things can make extraordinary differences in people lives and others circumstances.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to spend much time celebrating Christmas with my family but I was able to ponder the real meaning of Christmas. Without Christ there would be no Christmas. In my life Christ is all around, in everything I do and say. He is everywhere I look and that is a great blessing in my life. He has made me who I am today.
As I contemplated "Meet the Mormons,' my thoughts turned to who I am and my story. So far my life is quiet ordinary but I love it! I haven't influenced a country, built communities nor held a companionship title but I have a wonderful family who I love and love me. I don't know what my Heavenly Father has in store for me but I know that he depends on me to influence my children. To raise them up in righteousness, that they will be strong virtuous members of society. Its a burden but its one that I am honored to carry.
I love the quote, "The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world." That's exactly how I feel, so blest to have been given amazing little people to fill my home. Motherhood is the greatest blessing and challenge that I will ever have. I know that I am the best Mom when I have the spirit of Christ in my life. If I can raise children that understand that the real spirit of Christmas is found in serving others as Christ would then my life will have been far from ordinary.
